Overview

AgentCLiQ connects to your Gmail account through Google OAuth 2.0, enabling your AI agents to send emails, reply to threads, and resolve contact identities from your email history. Gmail is the backbone of AgentCLiQ's email outreach and response pipeline. When your agents draft outreach sequences, classify inbound replies, or compose follow-up responses, Gmail is the delivery and receiving channel.

Send Outbound Emails from Your Gmail Account

Your Email Copywriter agent drafts personalized email sequences, and Gmail delivers them from your actual business email address. Emails appear in the recipient's inbox as if you sent them personally, not from a generic marketing platform.

How to use it:

  1. Connect Gmail in Settings > Integrations
  2. Create an email sequence task on your Email Copywriter agent
  3. The agent generates personalized emails using research intelligence and merge fields
  4. On approval, emails are sent via the Gmail API from your connected account
  5. Sent emails appear in your Gmail Sent folder

Email features:

  • To, CC, and BCC support
  • Custom subject lines with merge fields
  • Plain text body with personalization
  • Proper RFC 2822 formatting for deliverability

Reply to Email Threads

When your Email Responder agent drafts a follow-up to an inbound reply, it sends the response in the same Gmail thread. This keeps the conversation contextual for both you and the prospect.

How it works:

  1. An inbound reply arrives and triggers the Email Classifier
  2. The classifier routes interested replies to the Email Responder
  3. The responder drafts a follow-up referencing the original conversation
  4. On approval, the reply is sent via Gmail with proper In-Reply-To and References headers
  5. The reply appears in the same thread in both your Gmail and the recipient's inbox

Send Personal Emails

Beyond automated sequences, any agent can send a one-off personal email through the Send Personal Email objective type. This is useful for follow-ups, introductions, or any email that needs to come from you but be drafted by an agent.

How to use it:

  1. Create a task on any agent
  2. Select "Send Personal Email" as the objective type
  3. Specify the recipient, subject, and let the agent draft the body
  4. Review and edit the draft before sending
  5. The email is sent from your connected Gmail account

Contact Resolution from Email History

When AgentCLiQ receives an inbound event (email reply, webhook, Slack message) and needs to identify who the sender is, the Contact Resolver searches your Gmail history to find matching threads.

How it works:

  1. An inbound event arrives with a sender name or email address
  2. The Contact Resolver searches your Gmail for threads involving that person
  3. It scans up to 20 recent threads from the last 30 days
  4. It extracts From, To, and CC headers to build a contact profile
  5. Each match is scored based on recency and frequency of communication
  6. The best match is returned with the contact's email, name, and company context

Scoring factors:

  • Name similarity (fuzzy matching against the query)
  • Recency (more recent threads score higher)
  • Frequency (more threads with the same person score higher)
  • Company match (if the query includes a company name, threads mentioning that company score higher)

How Gmail Works with Email Sequences

The end-to-end email sequence flow:

  1. Data Source: Contacts are pulled from HubSpot, Google Sheets, or CSV upload
  2. Personalization: The agent uses research intelligence to personalize each email
  3. Draft Generation: Multi-step sequences are generated with subject lines and body copy
  4. Review: You review drafts in the Task Builder (or skip review if ETAM level is Act)
  5. Sending: Approved emails are sent via Gmail API from your connected account
  6. Delivery Tracking: Send status is logged in the delivery calendar
  7. Inbound Replies: Prospect replies hit the Resend webhook
  8. Classification: The Email Classifier categorizes the reply
  9. Response: The Email Responder drafts a follow-up and sends it via Gmail in the same thread

Relationship with Resend

AgentCLiQ uses two email systems that work together:

FunctionProviderPurpose
Outbound sendingGmail APIEmails sent from your personal/business Gmail address
Inbound receivingResend webhooksCaptures replies to outreach emails
Transactional emailResendPlatform notifications, password resets, briefings
Custom domain sendingResendOptional branded sending domain for high-volume outreach

When you connect both Gmail and a Resend sending provider, AgentCLiQ automatically routes personal outreach through Gmail (appears from you) and high-volume sequences through Resend custom domain (if configured). Inbound replies go through Resend webhooks regardless of which system sent the original.

Which Agents Use Gmail

AgentWhat It Does with Gmail
Email CopywriterSends personalized outreach sequences from your Gmail account. Each email appears in your Sent folder.
Email ClassifierProcesses inbound replies (received via Resend webhook) and classifies them. Uses Gmail thread context for classification accuracy.
Email ResponderDrafts and sends follow-up replies via Gmail, maintaining thread continuity with proper headers.
CEOCan send personal emails for executive-level communications (introductions, follow-ups).
Contact ResolverSearches Gmail history to identify unknown contacts by matching email threads.

How to Connect

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations in your AgentCLiQ dashboard
  2. Find Gmail in the integration list
  3. Click Connect
  4. You will be redirected to Google to authorize AgentCLiQ
  5. Select your Google account and grant the requested permissions
  6. You will be redirected back to AgentCLiQ with the connection active

After you connect:

  • Your connected email address will be displayed in Settings
  • Configure a sending domain in Settings for branded outreach
  • Set up a reply subdomain in Settings for inbound reply tracking

Requirements:

  • A Google account with Gmail enabled
  • Google Workspace or personal Gmail account
  • Permission to authorize third-party apps (may require Google Workspace admin approval for organizational accounts)

Permissions

AgentCLiQ requests the following Google OAuth scopes for Gmail:

  • gmail.send: Send emails on your behalf
  • gmail.readonly: Read email metadata for thread context and contact resolution
  • gmail.modify: Modify labels and message state (for thread management)

AgentCLiQ does not read the full content of your emails. It only accesses message headers (From, To, CC, Subject, Message-ID) for contact resolution and thread continuity. You can revoke access anytime from Settings > Integrations.

Limitations

  • Gmail API rate limits apply (250 quota units per user per second). AgentCLiQ throttles sends to stay within limits.
  • Sending volume limits: Gmail allows approximately 500 emails per day for personal accounts and 2,000 per day for Google Workspace accounts. AgentCLiQ's capacity scheduler respects these limits.
  • Attachments are not currently supported in outgoing emails. Plain text only.
  • HTML email formatting is on the roadmap. Currently, emails are sent as plain text.
  • Google OAuth production verification is in progress. During review, only test accounts can connect.
